Dental VeneersWhen it comes to self-presentation, a great smile can go a long way. We offer dental veneers at Avery Dental Center - a great cosmetic dentistry treatment that can improve your smile (and appearance) dramatically. The appearance of your teeth is an important aspect and has more influence than you might think. With the right treatment like dental veneers, anyone's mouth can be transformed in a short space of time. A great smile has become increasingly important to us. This is especially true if your teeth aren't white and straight as it can make you feel self-conscious and lower your self-esteem. Dental veneers offer a reasonably quick solution (much shorter than orthodontic work if you have crooked teeth) and can transform your ugly, chipped, discolored and damaged teeth. What are Dental Veneers?Dental veneers have proven to be a popular cosmetic solution. They are made from hard-wearing materials like porcelain and custom-fitted to your teeth exactly, so you get the perfect fit that's tailor-made just for you! Veneers resist stains well and cause minimal interference with how natural your teeth look. Wafer-thin slivers of material are attached to the front of the teeth. They can be fitted to just one tooth, but increasingly they are placed in rows of six or more to create the perfect smile. They are stain-resistant and can last for years provided you look after them carefully and avoid bad habits, such as crunching ice cubes or biting your nails. Am I a Suitable Candidate for Veneers?Cosmetic dentistry treatments are best for people with excellent dental and oral health and veneers are no different. You must not have any cavities in your teeth, show no signs of gum disease, or be a person who grinds their teeth as these can cause the veneers to break more easily. Be sure you're committed to cleaning and flossing regularly so that after treatment all the good work will last and not impede your oral health. What Is the Procedure for Veneers?A consultation with us will determine if you are a good candidate for veneers based on your dental health, your esthetic goals, and expectations of the treatment. If you are a good candidate, we will then set about preparing your teeth to receive the veneers. A thin sliver of enamel is removed from the front of the tooth receiving the veneer and then impressions are taken. The impressions are used to form molds which are sent to a laboratory, along with the color specification, where your veneers are made to fit. You will return to us to have the veneers affixed to your teeth. We will position the veneers on the tooth to check the fit and color. We can make small adjustments to the size and when we are happy with how they look will affix them to the front of the tooth. A special light-activated adhesive is used, which forms a strong bond so that the veneers are fixed securely in place.
