If you want to straighten your teeth with invisible braces, contact our experts at Avery Dental Center to find out more. Invisalign is one of the most popular orthodontic treatments for adults and kids alike. The treatment is designed to gradually move your teeth into their proper position by using a series of clear, removable aligners. They are comfortable, easy to use, and can give you the smile you have always wanted.

What are the advantages of Invisalign?

Invisalign is a great option for children and teenagers who are not ready to have braces. It also can be used on patients with metal allergies or other medical conditions that make traditional treatment impossible.

What are the disadvantages of Invisalign?

Some people may find this orthodontic product difficult to get accustomed to, especially if they have never worn clear retainers before. You may experience dry mouth because saliva does not have as much room to flow in your mouth and over time this could lead to cavities or other dental issues.

Dry eyes, headaches, earache, and temporary tooth sensitivity are also common side effects that should subside after several weeks. Once you get used to wearing them you should not experience any significant discomfort.

Remember that it is important to wear them as instructed! The aligner should only come out when you are eating and at night when you brush your teeth, otherwise your treatment will not proceed satisfactorily.

What is the Treatment Process?

The process starts with digital photographs, x-rays, and impressions of your teeth to create your Invisalign treatment plan. These are used to make molds of your mouth to make tailor-made aligners for you to wear. This could take a couple of weeks.

Aligners are usually sent out in batches and you will need to replace each aligner every two weeks. One of the advantages of Invisalign over traditional braces is that you will only need to see the dentist around every six weeks rather than four weeks.

How long does treatment take?

Most people start noticing changes after a few weeks, but it can take as long as two years for Invisalign treatment to conclude. The time frame depends on the severity of your issue and the complexity of your case. Once you get braces from us, we will work with you every step of the way.

Will Invisalign Work for Me?

You must be prepared to wear them for the full 22 hours a day. You should not eat with them and avoid drinking sugary drinks that can cause plaque build-up. As the aligners are made from a clear, thermoplastic material they can become stained with food, drink, and smoking. The general rule is anything that can stain your clothes can stain the aligner, so be careful if you want to avoid your invisible aligners becoming visible.

How Do I Clean My Aligners?

We recommend brushing with a soft-bristled toothbrush and using water or mouthwash to remove any food particles that might have accumulated in your aligners. A gentle brush is recommended, as too much force could break the wire on the inside of the plastic trays.
